1. Introduction

Welcome to Sonus. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any personal data you may share with us. This comprehensive Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, stored, and utilized when you use the Sonus Web Player, including its local playback features, cloud synchronization, and social capabilities (such as Party Mode).

2. Information We Collect and Store

Sonus operates primarily as a local-first application, which means the majority of your data never leaves your device. However, certain opt-in features require external storage:

Local Storage: Your application settings, theme preferences, equalizer states, liked songs, playback history, and play counts are stored directly in your browser's Local Storage. We do not have access to this data.
Cloud Synchronization: If you utilize the "Migrate to Cloud" feature, your audio files and embedded cover art are uploaded securely to our Supabase storage buckets.
Real-Time Sync Data: When utilizing "Party Mode," anonymous playback timestamps, track IDs, and emoji reactions are temporarily broadcasted through our Server-Sent Events (SSE) relay. This data is transient and is not permanently recorded.

3. Third-Party Integrations

To provide premium features, Sonus integrates with the following third-party platforms. Your use of these features is subject to their respective privacy policies:

Last.fm: If connected, Sonus sends track metadata (Artist, Title, Album) and timestamps to your Last.fm account for scrobbling purposes. We store your Last.fm session token securely to maintain this connection.
Supabase: Used for hosting global cloud databases and media files. Global "Play Counts" for tracks are aggregated and stored anonymously in our Supabase database to provide a shared community experience.
Vercel: The underlying application and API infrastructure are hosted on Vercel's global edge network. Standard network access logs may be collected by Vercel for security and performance monitoring.

4. How We Use Your Data

We solely use your data to operate and improve the Sonus player experience. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or listening habits to third-party advertisers or data brokers under any circumstances.

5. Data Retention and Your Rights

You maintain full control over your data. You can completely erase your local listening history, preferences, and authentication tokens at any time by clearing your browser's site data or cache. If you wish to revoke Last.fm access, you may do so via the Sonus settings panel or directly within your Last.fm account security settings.

6. Security

We implement reasonable technical safeguards to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and strictly scoped database policies (Row-Level Security). However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of cloud-synced files.
